Welcome to the I Love Me! Carnival!

This post was written for inclusion in the I Love Me! Carnival hosted by Amy at Anktangle. This carnival is all about love of self, challenging you to lift yourself up, just for being you.

Oh body, my body.

I love you.

Not as well as I’d like, most days, admittedly. We have been through some hardships together, after all, and I was a teenager once who didn’t understand you, couldn’t fathom your whys and wherefores.

I love you now, though, even when I don’t always show it.

I love your glorious ambiguity, your lycanthropy, the sizzling shift we dance between the poles of masculine and feminine. I love the way you look in khakis and tshirts, in sundresses, and especially naked, where you are soft and jiggly and very, very cuddly.

I love the way you move, strong and sure, even when the leg is acting up and you have to limp, because even that limp is proud. Even when you were recovering from a c-section you fought like hell to sit up, stand up, rest now, shhh. You stretch and curl and chase the kids around the house like you were born for it, and you can be comfortable and fall asleep practically anywhere, which is an invaluable asset for bedsharing, couchsharing, and floorsharing.

I love that you gave me two beautiful, healthy children, without too much fuss or too much bother – I realize how very lucky I am to have had this outcome.

I love you, and loving you makes me confident, makes me sexy and sassy and handsome, and I am so, so glad that I have learned to take time to appreciate you.

  2. I love this post! Wow! You can actually feel the warm embrace that you are giving your body. This is such an encouraging post. We women need to be reminded that every single millimeter of us is beautiful, jiggles and all. I love the awareness and appreciation you have for your vessel.

  3. I love everything about this post. I love the style you chose and the way you wrote it. It flows, it moves, it totally rocks!
    Your body is very lucky to have you.
    Your last paragraph is staying with me to ponder. How loving your body gives you confidence, etc… I like that.
